My name is Kou Lee. I was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I started creating videos with my friends and families in high school as a hobby. I would borrow my dad’s point and shoot camera to film my friends and I on our trips to dance competitions when I was still very active in the dance (breakin’) community. I was the person all my friends knew had a camera on me almost everywhere we went. One day, I decided to film my mom talking about her childhood. As I put her story together into a video, I fell in love with the how amazing story telling through filmmaking is. I decided to post her story on social media and it garnered so much positive feedbacks. In 2016, I started to take on filmmaking seriously, and it led me to be where I am today. I had the amazing opportunities to capture people’s weddings, music videos, events, documentaries, etc. I get satisfaction being able to film and create projects to help tell stories visually.
