Cookie Policy

This explains the cookies and similar technologies (like localStorage) that Hmong Network and the tools we use set when you visit the site.

Sign-in sessions use a cookie so you stay signed in as you move between pages — this one can't be turned off without also turning off the ability to stay signed in.

Your shopping cart is stored in your browser's localStorage rather than a cookie, since checkout for cart purchases is still in progress — it's functionally similar to a cookie for privacy purposes, but isn't sent to our servers with every request the way a cookie is. Bookmarks, coupons, reviews, and sponsorship campaigns are saved to your account in our database instead, so they follow you across devices once you're signed in.

We use a cookieless, privacy-focused analytics tool to understand overall site traffic. It doesn't use a tracking cookie and isn't tied to your identity.

Each business listing page also records aggregate counts of views and contact actions (phone taps, direction requests, and similar) — this is designed to record that an action happened, not who took it, and doesn't use a cookie tied to you either. Neither of these requires your consent under cookie-law frameworks like the ePrivacy Directive, because neither stores or accesses anything on your device to identify you.

If a business owner connects their own Google Analytics account to their listing, visiting that listing page can set a Google Analytics cookie forwarding your visit to that business's own property. This only happens after you make an explicit, revocable choice in the consent banner shown on that page — declining keeps our first-party analytics working normally and simply skips the forwarding.

Business listing pages, the articles a business publishes, and our Resources blog may carry a Google AdSense ad unit; no other page on the site does. We request non-personalized ads, so the ad is chosen from the content of the page you're reading rather than from a profile of your past behavior.

Google may still set a cookie on those pages to limit how often you see the same ad and to detect click fraud. Non-personalized ads are not used to build an advertising profile of you or to target you elsewhere on the web, and we never pass advertisers your account details, messages, or orders.

You can review or change Google's own ad settings at myadcenter.google.com, and most browsers let you block third-party cookies outright.

You can decline the optional analytics-forwarding consent banner shown on a business listing page at any time — your choice is remembered for future visits. Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies directly in your browser settings; doing so may sign you out or reset preferences that rely on localStorage.
