Oppa House: Korean BBQ & Hot Pot

I visited Oppa House Korean BBQ about three weeks ago. The restaurant has a large menu with Korean BBQ, hot pot, soups, appetizers, desserts, sauces, and a good drink selection, including soju, sake, cocktails, beer, soda, and tea. The visual menu is helpful and easy to understand, and the place seems good for groups. They also have a private closed karaoke room, which is a nice feature, but it costs $50 per hour. My main issue was that after paying for the room, it took a long time before someone came to show us how to use the karaoke system. Reordering food also took a long time, and not all the items came out as ordered. Overall, the food selection and karaoke room are good ideas, but the service and timing need improvement. I rated it 3 stars because the experience was okay, but not smooth enough to rate higher. I may come back with friends, but I hope the karaoke setup, reorders, and food accuracy are better next time.

What a disappointment. We went to Oppa House—Korean BBQ & Hot Pot, Broken Arrow, for our second visit because my wife liked their bulgogi tacos on our first visit on last Memorial Day Sunday [Szechuan House was closed]. We were immediately greeted and seated at table N12. First, our waitress took our drink order of two unsweet iced teas. A man arrived with 1 sweet and 1 unsweet iced tea. Had to ask another man to trade out the sweet tea when he passed by. Our waitress returned to take our order, Bulgogi Tacos and Spicy Bulgogi with onions, bell peppers and white rice. A man delivered the Bulgogi Tacos that appeared to be drown in spicy sauce. A few minutes later, another man delivered my Spicy Bulgogi dinner. After he left, I noted it was missing the bell peppers. After about 10 minutes, I flagged down a server and asked for our waitress and a menu. Our waitress arrived, I looked at the menu and my order and noted it was supposed to have bell peppers. I showed her that and she left. About 5-10 minutes later, a man showed up with a plate of cut bell peppers and left. I noted they were cold. When our waitress finally returned, I told her they were cold, that they were supposed to be cooked along with the bulgogi. She took them back. About 5-10 minutes later, she returned with cooked bell peppers-more than the first plate of peppers 😁 Only after we paid, did a woman [I assume was the manager] come to our table and asked how our meal was and my wife told her about the experience. No quality control coming out of kitchen! Basically, sorry about that [aka too bad]. We will not return.

Well the wife and I are at it again. And this time we both decided to try Oppa House. I will admit we both waited because when this place first opened the reviews were pretty harsh, but I'm happy to see that the reviews have changed for the better, and live up to the experience that we had. We went in on a Friday just past 6:00 p.m. and we were seated immediately. Jason, our writer took our order. Beef beef, beef, veggies and some squid flowers. I got all the side dishes and let me tell you I put them in order ( pictures), I was so excited to see that they actually serve the Korean potato salad. Wow. Really good. It's not what you think. If you haven't had it, it's cold, slightly sweet and it's more like a mashed potato consistency. But it was really good. The quality of the food was definitely there. The options that they have are different than the other Korean barbecue restaurant in Tulsa. You're not going here for the decor but it has a nice setting. And this is just a disclaimer for those that get cold easily. You may want to wear some type of sweater to keep you warm. This is part of the ventilation inside which is really good so you really don't come out smelling like barbecue. When you're done you may have a slight a hint of barbecue but not like most places where you just come out smelling like beef pork, or whatever you cooked. Again, from the moment we were greeted seated ordered, everything was just consistent. Professional didn't have to worry about refills. I'm telling you they were on point with everything they didn't miss a beat and I can really appreciate that. That just really makes out for a better experience than all the other Hang-Ups that we've experienced eating out in general. So don't wait any longer. If you haven't had Korean BBQ, I highly recommend that you give this a try And for those that are new that haven't tried Korean BBQ. Sure, you can look it up on YouTube and Google. But rest assured going to Poppa House, the waiters and staff will walk you through your first experience. The place was so good that my wife wanted to go back the next day. Have a great weekend.

WOW!!!! First off let me tell you the service is exceptional. We never had to wait on our server for anything. My drink was full and he kept the food coming out, offered some amazing suggestions and had us all smiling. The Food.... Lets start with everyone getting their own individual hotpot, I got to order spicy house broth without the worry of anyone else having to deal with my spice tolerance.All in all we got the House Spicy, Pho, Miso and Tonkatsu and they were all superb. IMO the tonkatsu was better than I have had at a lot of high end ramen shops. The meats and veggies were fresh and well prepared, the spicy bulgogi and thick pork belly were my favorites. Whatever you do do NOT miss out on the "Japchae" on the Banchan bar it is delicious! Great experience, great people, great food. We will be back soon!!!!!!!

I loved this place!! The staff were so helpful and nice it was really a cool experience they even helped us because we had no idea what to do or how to cook anything
